Most rumours need to be treated for what they really are.


No one would be surprised about yesterday's rumours of a so called secret list that, according to the rumour, the NSW Liberal party is supposed to have had drawn up by a private consultancy. Particularly when you realise that the Labor party just might have had some vested interest in spreading such a rumour.
But when reporters put the question to Barry O'Farrell he said there isn't some secret sell off list being developed, so where would such a rumour come from?
Well the timing of such a rumour is most interesting.
Keep in mind that Barry O'Farrell was in the NSW Parliament yesterday, as were many Labor party figures, and Labor knew they were going to be faced with two damaging stories yesterday. Firstly there is the NSW Power Sell Off Upper House Inquiry.
The other piece of news yesterday, was that the promised brand new trains have problems, not the least of which is that they are going to arrive late, well this is NSW.

But for anyone who thinks there might actually be a secret Liberal party list that only the ALP knows about, well - tell them to...Turn It Up, I'm Michael Robinson.

Drugs policy must focus on prevention and recovery not promote addiction or substance abuse


The AIDS Council of NSW has long been a subject of controversy over some of its policies and publications in particular, and recently they have managed to stir up even more debate.

Of their $12 million budget around $9 million is provided to them by the taxpayer in order to fund them in their promotion of the health and well being of the GLBT community and those affected by HIV and AIDS.
So the taxpayer has a right to know how they are spending their money.
AIDS Council of NSW website has been criticised for some of their publications that are little more than a how to use drugs instruction booklet under the Federal Government's reduction of risk policy.

Now the experts try to say the words with a straight face that their publications and strategies do not increase drug use, that they are designed to reduce the risk of using drugs.
What they don't admit is that in doing so they have completely put aside any focus on prevention whatsoever.
In fact for almost three decades pretty much the same so called drug policy experts have turned Australian drug policy on its head from the old “Say No To Drugs” message of the 80's now we have “How to Use Drugs” …

Law enforcement must apply equally and impartially


Imagine this scenario, Refugees, Asylum seekers, or Boat people, call them what you will, but they come here without any legal permission and on their way they crash their boat on an island not far off Australia.

So Australia's law enforcement authorities rescue those people and what do they do, they have injured and the dead to deal with. As a compassionate nation we help the living, but then they start demanding where their dead friends and relatives are to be buried, not only where, but also how.
As anyone who has followed the news over the past few months this is not a fictional scenario, it happened.
So when people ignore our laws we have a right to ask do they get to dictate to us what we do?
Under our constitution Australian subjects of the Queen have both rights and responsibilities, and those who seek to arrive here essentially come here as guests.
It is the same for everyone once you are on Australian turf.
Law Enforcement must be applied equally and impartially and if you crash your car and you claim to police you don't need to be tested for drugs or alcohol because your religious beliefs forbid you from drinking alcohol here is what you should hear in reply...
...Turn It Up.
