As technology encroaches on your world we see that less is actually...well....LESS.

Recently I upgraded my mobile phone to a Google Android smart phone device.

Apart from being an advanced toy for grown ups it is also a mobile phone.

It is a little strange when you start to realise that the decisions you make and what you do on the phone starts to affect future responses.

Just like on your computer when you access online information  the applications adapt to pre-screen and filter future responses based on what you’ve shown an interest in.

For years we’ve been told that this feature will make our lives easier and in time it will just automatically provide us with what is termed relevant content.

But the danger of censorship is that an information bubble is created between software algorithms and your own choices and without you even realising it information just disappears.

Imagine what happens when technology bots control not just your phone, but every form of information and filters it before you even see it.

It isn’t just Internet Google searches that are affected.  Think about what it does when you try to use auto correct and the gloriously misnamed predictive text features....smart phone.

Turn It Up

Description: As web companies strive to tailor their services (including news and search results) to our personal tastes, there's a dangerous unintended consequence: We get trapped in a "filter bubble" and don't get exposed to information that could challenge or broaden our worldview. Eli Pariser argues powerfully that this will ultimately prove to be bad for us and bad for democracy.
