Good morning Grant.

As I mentioned last week on Friday night my wife and I went to see Love Never Dies, the Andrew Lloyd Webber
http://www.loveneverdies.com.au/creative-team.php  follow up to the Phantom of The Opera.

Having read the rave reviews
http://www.loveneverdies.com.au/reviews.php  and heard people talking about this musical production with universal enthusiasm and praise I now finally understand why so many people are so generous with their praise.

Up front I’ll admit going to the theatre to see anything today is not a cheap night out, it isn’t something we do often, nevertheless this one has to be on your to do list.

On our way in I spoke to a number of people including one couple who said the Sydney production is the best they’ve seen, and to be honest it did make me wonder what was it about this particular musical that had people going back time and time again.

From the time we sat down in the refurbished Capitol Theatre listening to the haunting sounds of the flute warming up as they rose up from the orchestra pit there was a palpable sense of anticipation.

The immense set, the breathtaking voices singing with ranges and emotions that transport you is something you just don’t get without being there in person.

The main story
http://www.loveneverdies.com.au/the-story.php follows on extremely well from the original explaining key aspects of the back story along the way.  It is more than just the connection between Christine and The Phantom with many subplots inter-weaved through the show but even  if you haven’t seen the first installment - Love Never Dies still works for the new audience.

Nevertheless to fully appreciate I’d recommend checking out the DVD of The Phantom before seeing Love Never Dies

Beyond the technical and lavish side of the 21 piece orchestra, the 5,000 lights the 300 costumes and the cast of 36 the live production is so much more than you see on even a cinema screen I’d highly recommend getting in before the season closes.

I was more surprised to see the wide cross section of the community, I don’t quite know what I expected the theatre crowd should look like but with less than 5 weeks to go before the Sydney season closes and the entire production wraps up and moves on I must say it did seem to have very broad appeal and the only real disappointment I had with it was at the end when I realised it was time to leave.

 At least we now

and we can ...
