Yesterday I received an email that contained a JPEG imagine, basically a photo image, of a letter 


It was;


1. From a group claiming to be
the UK National Lottery,  Watford WD189RN United Kingdom http://www.london2012.com/about-this-website/stay-safe-online.php

and complete with awful grammatical errors it read like this, 



Dear treasured winner, Congratulations

The United Kingdom National Lottery in association with International Olympic Committee is pleased to announced ….to you today, of your winning …..the release of it’s final draw. http://www.london2012.com/about-this-website/stay-safe-online.php

It goes on to explain that your winning of London 2012 tickets is fulling insured and you need to send them immediately clear proof of your identity with winning references and winnings that must be claimed by the owner of the email that this email with this batch number included in the email that was sent to.

They say that you must include physical contact addresses, phone numbers, and the usual identity stuff, you know the kind of information scammers usually need to steal your identity or to empty your bank accounts, or both.

The reason it was sent to me was that I was being asked if it was legit or a scam.



Here’s my answer …


... If you get an email that reads anything like that just delete it, you can forward it to federal police if you want, or just delete it.  


Don’t reply to them.  


What if you miss out on some free tickets? You ask?
