Flat Earth Science Fails Modern Societies

Today lets look back at the Flat Earth Societies of the past as a precautionary warning.

It was a time when the prevailing schools of scientists said that they had proved that the world was flat and the sun and stars revolved around the earth.

Today many scientists will say they are so advanced that they cannot fall into the same dangers and errors of scientific thinking that had the world believing that the earth was flat when it clearly wasn’t.

Then they make the same mistake and claim that anyone who dares to question them is a heretic who should be banished from the world of modern science.

That isn’t science it is a false religion.


Two things have caused it.  

The pursuit of money over truth

and the inability of independent scientists to openly raise questions when the facts contradict the government’s policies and rhetoric.

Like the flat earth society many scientists promote the beliefs of the modern day flat earth society because they are told they must.

Does that make it true?

Earlier this week I read a rather interesting article in the Sydney Morning Herald about some Scientists and economists who have given the Prime Minister’s Carbon Pricing Legislation the, so called, thumbs up.

On closer examination not everything is as it seems and it is worth closer examination into the many reasons such experts might support the Prime Minister’s version of Socialistic Wealth Redistribution.

I call it that because, well frankly, that is what it is.

The question tLenore Taylor, well respected National Affairs Correspondent failed to examine in the article was whether or not those backing the scheme have any actual or potential conflicts of interests.  They could be things like:

- Scientists who don’t support government policy will not get government grants and do not get their paper’s published and their universities do not get additional funding which means they don’t have a job.

Now some people might say that expert scientists and economists are above such conflicts of interest and would never stoop to allowing their views or opinions to be bought or influenced in such a way.
