Is it commu-compassion?

Well it has been quite a week of events for the Labor party in NSW and I've never wanted to use all the terms that have been bandied around indicating that they are leaving a sinking ship but we still see a lot of the ALP team bailing out looking for post March options and you have to wonder whether the ALP team itself in NSW has much confidence in their own abilities any more.

Yet in all this the NSW Premier had the presence of mind to go into bat for hard hit NSW residents and tell the Prime Minister that NSW residents are already doing it hard enough and shouldn't be slugged with more taxes to bail the other states out of their disasters, and it was a good signal to send the Federal Government because sometimes compassion and socialism does get confused.

So it is curious why the Federal government jumped straight to the taxation or national flood levy option so quickly. I know I'm still wondering why they didn't even consider so many other options first. Perhaps like giving businesses extra tax INCENTIVES to invest in infrastructure, or government bonds to boost savings and investment,

or perhaps wind back the money the Federal Government sends overseas on some of the more flippant international gifts and start looking after our own a little bit ...yeh I know Turn It Up. I'm Michael Robinson.

Racism isn't a good thing.

Racism is never a good thing.

It is disappointing that there are those bent on dividing the people of Australia along race and skin colour grounds, and I may have misunderstood this debate, because generally speaking we aren't a racist nation, so you'd have to ask why the latest push to split the nation down the middle on grounds of genetics has arisen at all?

We all have quite diverse family backgrounds and heritage and the one thing we have in common is our love of this country. So when some people say that they want to split this country into two nations of aboriginal people and others frankly I don't understand it whatsoever.
What unites us is our commonality, our life here, our legal, and democratic systems and the rights, freedoms and responsibilities that we ALL enjoy, these are the true essences of our national unity, and all of them are colour blind and ignore genetics.

So you have to ask why would we start a national debate that is based on skin colour, genetics, and place of birth?
Such a debate can only split and divide, further fracture and fragment this nation into one of broken people and divided communities, communities where people are divided on skin colour, genetics, and where your family was born.
While I have the utmost respect for Aboriginal elders, I do think their fight for justice is taking them down a path that will ultimately cause more wrongs than it can ever right.......and it has government backing … Turn It Up.

Australia Day - Love it.

Every Australia Day ...you just know it is going to happen.

Some one will ask people who have just become official Aussies, if they want to change the flag, the Crown and the constitution, whoa, hang on they've just said they like the place enough to take the place on as their own, is it really the time to be asking what they want to fix up?

Sure I understand if you've been here a while and know what you are talking about and well, you just know it is inevitable that some outspoken celebrity is going to stand up and decide that they should be the one to tell all Australians what we should think, or sing or act, and what our flag, and constitution should be.

Not only is the problem with that is that not one person can agree about what these things should be changed to... but the bottom line is that what we have works.

We are proud of our flag, and the Crown and the Constitution any faults with those systems are not ones such changes would improve.

What we have is robust and effective equality that provides for all …

And there are those who want to change all that now when there IS- NOT any good reason to do so? – Turn It Up...I'm Michael Robinson.
