Australia's day to remember political breach of trust by the parliament.

I have said it before and I will said it again.

Yesterday’s passing of the carbon tax legislation was a breach of democratic trust.

There are, of course, many views on this whole issue, but we shouldn’t ignore the spin  from the Independents and Labor who keep repeating the line that they believed that Tony Abbott would have done anything to be Prime Minister.
The reason they are saying that is to distract people from the reality.

The reality is that Julia Gillard and her Labor Party MP’s actually DID do anything and everything it took for them to gain power.

If you look at the last election:  The majority of the Senators and MP’s from every state and from the three major parties, Liberal, National Parties and the Labor party, all promised there would be no carbon tax and were elected to a Parliament with a combined no carbon tax majority in the parliament.
Yesterday’s back-flip by the entire Labor party broke an election promise and dismissed all pretences of Australia being a democracy.
That breach of trust gave a handful of Greens and three independents the power to ignore the clear democratic wishes of the Australian people and impose their socialist taxation scheme on this nation.
As for comments about an Australian tax scheme saving the planet .

This is an issue the Independents should carpet the PM over and force her to cancel the cheques..(but I don't they expect will).

Here's what I said on 2SM today after the 7am news

When Julia Gillard announces she's now handing over five hundred million dollars over 5 years, that's five hundred million Australian tax payer's dollars to fund radical Islamic schools in Indonesia I think we all have a right to demand she be recalled by the parliament, carpeted by the Independents and told to cancel the cheques.
But I doubt the Independents will even blink an eye over this they most certainly should warn hthe Prime Minister that this sort of nonsense should not be where she focuses public spending. And
Perhaps this announcement might not sting so much if Julia Gillard's government wasn't tearing down parental and religions freedoms of choice in regards to the future school curriculum in what she euphemistically calls an education revolution.

Of course the international political lesson here isn't so difficult to figure out, people's doors are always open when you are bringing gifts, especially hundreds of millions of dollars worth of gifts that have no strings attached at all... but … when you then go asking for favours do you really think Indonesia will even bother taking that call let alone taking you serious?

I'll have more to say topic on my online blog at turnitupmike dot blogspot dot com
until next time I'm Michael Robinson ... Turn It Up.

P.S.

Australia has no business funding religious schools in other countries. It is more than a bit hypocritical to give money to these schools at the same time as this Federal government's national curriculum overhaul / Education Revolution is doing nothing more than censoring community and parental freedom of choice in the education curriculmn.

Want to know more?

Read “Australia's Education Revolution” by Dr Kevin Donnelly.

In Australia Julia Gillard's so called education revolution is a dressed up form of government censorship of what schools may teach and what parents might be allowed to choose for their children to learn. Now of course it is couched in terms that many people think it is about standardising the curriculum and improving national standards, but to those in the know, what that actually means is the government will determine what your children will be taught. Parents get less say than ever.

For those who are already thinking this let me tell you, yes you are correct, we are being taken for a ride on the red coat-tails of our Prime Minister's grandstanding around the world and much like Kevin Rudd's splashing cash around to buy his popularity Prime Minister Gillard seems to think that she can buy her way into favour with our neighbours and is yet to learn a hard lesson in international politics, but its one the Australian taxpayers are paying the cost for in more than just cold hard cash.

I'm interested in what other people have to comment about this one!

No scrutiny please, its been spent

Well what a week it has been in Federal politics.

Even Chris Pyne didn't even bother to turn up to vote on his own bill for an inquiry into the ALP's B.E.R. But when you understand he knew he couldn't get the numbers to support the vote he found another way to talk about this.

When. given the opportunity to vote for more scrutiny of government spending the independents have repeatedly said; “Nah don't worry about it ...we'll trust the government on military spending, then scuttled a vote for the Public Works committee to scrutinise the ABN spending and likewise no scrutiny on BER spending.

While all makes one comment from Independent Tony Windsor is quite interesting, essentially saying that he wouldn't be voting for more scrutiny into how the money was spent because he voted in support of more spending.

Therein lies the problem some politicians are having. It seems for many, so long as money was spent ... on something … and jobs were kept and someone got something and the bills were paid everything is as it was meant to be.

The question of value for money is an issue they dare not consider and certainly dare not put under scrutiny...

If they held an inquiry who knows what you might find out? Turn It Up.... I'm Michael Robinson.

Tony Abbot ... The Destroyer? ... Turn It Up!

Tony Abbott the destroyer? Turn It Up!
An expanded version of the Turn It Up Mike comment heard on 2SM Tuesday 28th September 2010.

Julia Gillard MP has called on Tony Abbott (Leader of the Opposition) and his fellow members of the Opposition to cut her some slack, in fact she's pretty much asked them to slack off and let the ALP push through whatever legislation they want without any regard whatsoever for what the coalition members themselves might want, or might have promised the Australian people, who have put them there.

Think about it, she is more concerned about a handful of Green and Independent MP's who have pushed her government across the 76 seat line and their wish lists than the 73 MP's from Coalition who could help the 72 ALP MP's actually pass every piece of legislation they want not only through the Lower House but together the Coalition could help the ALP progress Legislation through the Senate too.

Among his many statements Rob Oakeshott has alluded to this a few times in the past few weeks but has the supposedly great political negotiator of a Prime Minister, and the Government, got down to hard work and done the hard yards to common ground between the two major parties? No. Instead she has gotten out with the fighting words calling Tony Abbott the spoiler and a destroyer (*), for wanting to ensure that what does pass through the parliament actually represents the wishes of the majority of the elected MP's and therefore the public.

Get this straight she actually is asking at least one MP, maybe more depending on circumstances, to skip parliamentary voting time, to give the ALP and its coalition of drooling wish list writers a free run at passing whatever legislation they want that day without the scrutiny that the voters have demanded of this parliament.

At the same time Julia Gillard PM is telling the Australian people that everything she promised them is now off the table and everything the Greens and the Independents want is on the table. Clearly she will do anything she has to in order to maintain a stable, but ALP, government except be a constructive government and work with the majority of elected Members of Parliament herself..

So lets call it what it is, Newspeak where constructive opposition is labelled as destructive.

Where breaking a political promise to the Australian people is called democratic and where letting the Left Wing Radical socialists dictate the focus and direction of parliament is called concern for the Australian people.

Tony Abbott is doing what the Australian public require him to do, scrutinise the government and hold them to some level of accountability even when they can do that themselves.

Lets stop the whingeing Prime Ministerial statements about the Opposition and get on with the job. You want Tony Abbott to sit one of the duly elected MP's out so you can pass whatever legislation you want without the accountability of the elected MP's …... TURN IT UP....
