After the Labor party’s past weekend of policy distractions, some may call policy destruct-ions, I thought this week I will take a look at some of more important things that it overshadowed.
The two issues being talked about for weeks were the gay marriage policy debate and the debate over changing the policy on selling Uranium to India.
Politically it is a well proven tactic to release a highly controversial report you’ve been sitting on for months under the cover of a more significant story like when the Treasurer released a budget update recently.
The Gillard Governent knew that because of the current state of global financial crisis-es the budget update would be the issue that got the attention and despite it’s significance almost no one even knows about the very embarrassing report that is now a public document.
That was the same tactic they used again for the weekend’s conference.
In fact they have used these two issues for weeks as large distractions somewhat like two big Trojan Horses, you think we are not going to look more closely what is really going on, you think we are going to fall for that?
