Enforce the law

There is a guy in Switzerland, Bernard Rappaz, he is on a hunger strike because he was growing cannabis and it is illegal so the authorities took him to court and he got 5 years and 8 months imprisonment for violation of the country's federal drug laws.

Now he is on a hunger strike because he says he has a right to engage in civil disobedience for his political cause for the legalisation of cannabis, which he conveniently calls hemp  ... (they are the same plant).

His supporters, naturally, are not only defending his right to grow and use dope but also his hunger strike and now this is where it has gotten interesting. Rather than the debate be about enforcement of the laws of the land or even a debate about the merits or otherwise of legalisation, by going on a hunger strike in prison Bernard Rappaz has turned the national debate on this issue about whether doctors are allowed or even forced to keep him alive against his will to serve out his prison sentence or should doctors just let a man die because that is what he wants to do?

Some are even suggesting that the law should not be enforced on Bernard because he strongly opposes it …. TURN IT UP.

Energy plan that will turn a gas into a gasp.

Today we have news that gas fired electricity generators are going to replace coal based electricity to heat the heart of Sydney, why? Simply because electricity is considered dirty by the modern standards of today's social experimenters.

The reason they aren't using solar is quite simple too. We aren't boosting the Australian renewable energy industry because most government subsidies purchase equipment made offshore so instead of helping consumers and producers to improve technology and reduce overall short term and long term costs what the government funding the the Green industries is actually doing is raising prices but not efficiencies.  Instead of advancing the industry government funding, how it is being applied, is artificially inflating prices and government debt as well.

So, in what only Clover Moore's lot would call wisdom, The City Of Sydney is planning to install gas powered turbines throughout the city and instead of burning that "black and dirty coal stuff that is just turning carbon captured sun energy into electricity and CO2" now they are going to burn gas and release Nitrous Oxides and other toxins right in the middle of the city, right where Sydney sider's breath.

You may well think that on top of the cars this is simply going to add more pollution into Sydney – ahhhh well that is where you and I would be WRONG.

Clearly the plan is to progressively choke the roads and push cars out of the city so that pollution from cars can be replaced ...

....by pollution from other sources

...that are replacing the pollution from electricity ... TURN IT UP...I'm Michael Robinson

Green wrapper on red product. Read the fine print on the warning label!!!

Peter Costello has written a rather interesting piece, published in the SMH last week.

Now he's not the first person to raise this issue and we've talked about quite often, but he does put quite a lot of specifics into print and expose a lot of the Green party's political manipulation of the public.

If you ask most people what the Greens stood for in the election, the environment would be what most people say. Costello points out that Greens leader Bob Brown, now given the opportunity of a strong balance of power of numbers in parliament, after the election, only now tells the public that the biggest legislative priority for the Greens is what?
Water? No
The environment? Logging? Nope!
What about … Toxins in our food, soil, or water? No!

The Greens are falling over themselves to get euthanasia legislation through the parliament and every thing else comes a poor second.

I suppose we need to understand that most of the Greens are closet socialists and communists who take this approach that they want to help you die. They'll then tax you for dying, and tax you for taking up valuable environmental space after you have died …. turn it up.... I'm Michael Robinson

No scrutiny please, its been spent

Well what a week it has been in Federal politics.

Even Chris Pyne didn't even bother to turn up to vote on his own bill for an inquiry into the ALP's B.E.R. But when you understand he knew he couldn't get the numbers to support the vote he found another way to talk about this.

When. given the opportunity to vote for more scrutiny of government spending the independents have repeatedly said; “Nah don't worry about it ...we'll trust the government on military spending, then scuttled a vote for the Public Works committee to scrutinise the ABN spending and likewise no scrutiny on BER spending.

While all makes one comment from Independent Tony Windsor is quite interesting, essentially saying that he wouldn't be voting for more scrutiny into how the money was spent because he voted in support of more spending.

Therein lies the problem some politicians are having. It seems for many, so long as money was spent ... on something … and jobs were kept and someone got something and the bills were paid everything is as it was meant to be.

The question of value for money is an issue they dare not consider and certainly dare not put under scrutiny...

If they held an inquiry who knows what you might find out? Turn It Up.... I'm Michael Robinson.

Bully for Bullies

The problem of childhood bullying is one that is regularly in the news and it is one that schools with their political correctness think they can go it alone to solve, and they are making things worse for many students.
There is a saying that violence breeds violence, and there are those who will say when kids stand up for themselves and pound a bully a good one the first time ... things are different, of course in most political correct school programs the person who won the fight would be in big trouble not the bully who started it. We need to teach our children that they need confidence but also need to know when not to have resort to violence.

Of course bullying isn't new it has gone on for generations and what parents need to learn is that for generations families have been foundation of children's development. Politically correct talk-fests at school might help but schools today need to support families not undermine them and children need to know they belong, they are loved and that injustice isn't tolerated.

They learn that at home and take it into the school yard, and nothing makes a parent more proud than when you learn your child stuck up for some little kid who was being picked on and that's when you, TURN IT UP. I'm Michael Robinson

Labour influenced by Green's dripping policies

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a keen gardener, and when I garden I add compost, mulch, manure, straw, kitchen scraps, sawdust … you get the idea. I'm no permaculture expert, but I know it works.

The result has been phenomenal, I have rich garden beds that grow wonderful vegies and with the organic matter in the soil and mulch on top of the soil it retains water in the dry like I could not have hoped for when I began.

I also have a preference for eating locally grown food, the less distance food has to travel the fresher it is, well all know that, and often food that comes from overseas who knows what toxins and pesticides got through the honest box at Customs not to mention less transport related pollution to get local food to local consumers

So I struggle with this issue of governments who say they want to protect the people and the environment then go about just taking the water off farmers to return it to river flows with no effort to see both have a future.

It strikes me that a government that can only take water away from farmers and leave them out to dry is leaving all Australians out to dry. Turn it up, I'm Michael Robinson

Other issues Australia's Green parties and their influence on the current government are failing us on.
