Yesterday was an historic day.

The first American President to have been elected with dark coloured skin met the first female Australian Prime Minister on Australian soil, coincidental our Prime Minister  also has quite a strong hair colour.

Many said at the time when both came to office that they were historic days for each of our countries.  Those statements were largely being about the skin colour in America and sex of our Prime Minister.

Despite the many promises and hopes each country had at the time, since then it has been a revelation for some people.

Both leaders made promises and have broken promises, both raised hopes that they would make the world a better place and history will ultimately be the judge of that.

As I have said the elections of each of these two leaders was something many people made a big deal out of at the time.

So now with a little perspective we can ask the question.

Has their sex or their place of birth, or where their parents or grandparents were born -
or their skin colour, eye colour, hair colour, height or even their marital status been the defining issue over and above their policies and their actions? Turn It Up

Teachers - Try something different and go to work

Well the Public Sector strike yesterday certainly stirred up some controversy didn’t it.

The unions are ctalking up how powerful they are.  Able to get lots of people to march on NSW State Parliament.
I made a comment yesterday on my Facebook post for teachers to try something different and go to work.
Some people took that comment as a slight against teachers and others wrongly assumed I was saying that teachers don’t work at other times.
Both are incorrect assumptions about what I was saying.
I support teachers and over many years of many comments on this program I have spoken about the education system and need for improvements.
Some of those improvements are to the curriculum but some are needed to the training -  development and the way teachers do things but generally speaking teachers have the support and respect from the rest of the community.

But if they think for one moment that that public support will continue if they union threats and ransom demands of holding this state hostage to get what they want.....and they think for a moment that striking, instead of going to work, will be supported by the community ….well..
