One of the big issues facing the Western World is public health.  

Now the issues aren’t quite the same public health issues that are facing developing nations.

Despite generations of knowledge about health and well being and an amazing range of food and nutrition available to us, we still have people dying from preventable illnesses at almost 100 times the rate of deaths on the road.

It is no secret that we need nutrition from fresh vibrant predominantly uncooked whole food, fresh air, fresh clean water and regular exercise.

Earlier in the week when I spoke about this issue the AMA weighed into reports saying that Australians should be wary of taking too many pills.

One of the problems we have is that doctors are trained in what I would call crisis management type medicine and resourced with symptom management prescription medicine.

Many people go to them with long term chronic illnesses and ask them to help get them healthy and well.

Doctors are not trained to do  that.  They are not trained in food choices, nutrition or healing a sick body.

Does anyone really think we get sick because of our lack of pharmaceutical medication.

One of the big issues facing the Western World is public health.  Now the issues aren’t quite the same public health issues that are facing developing nations.

Here in Australia, like the UK, America and other developed, wealthy nations we have clean water on tap, we have out of sight processed sewer systems to take away the sewer that might otherwise spread diseases.

And yet we have many preventable diseases.

Last night on the Network TEN News, as a result of recent reports about how much medicines people were taking they asked Sydneysiders and doctors if they thought Australians were using too many medications.

What was interesting was the AMA lumped food supplements, you know things like fish oil in with prescription and Over The Counter medications and called them all pills.

Now that is part of the problem and the lies.

We, as the end consumer, need to understand the difference between food that is good for us either in supplement or raw form and food that is so processed that it is a toxin to us.
For those who were wondering.  

Do we get sick because we don’t take enough of the medications that the pharmaceutical companies sell to make themselves profitable?
