Professor Tim Flannery, scientist and the Prime Minister's hand picked Commissioner and government spokesperson on climate change and chief spruiker for the government's climate change carbon tax policies has admitted that if the whole world, cut all emissions tomorrow it will not even begin to reduce the average global temperature of the planet for hundreds of years and possibly a least thousand years.
Now isn't that a stark contrast where politicians are often accused of not having a long term vision and only looking at the short term.
Don't get me wrong I'm all for a long term vision, but seriously you have to question the benefits of Australia spending billions of dollars and going it alone in the global economy when Australia's contribution to all these emissions totals less than a percent.
So even if we shut down all Australian industry and shut down our economy and went back to a hunter gatherer lifestyle acting alone we still wouldn't significantly reverse any more than a fraction of a percent of the world's temperature this side of a thousand years, but the responsible thing to do is act urgently …
