The Government’s hand picked new climate economics team have spoken and what they have to say has got the nation’s attention, and split it down the middle.
We are told that the Barrier Reef will disappear as ocean levels rise up to a meter in the next hundred years making the need to act, urgent.
But that statement in itself is puzzling when we know that mankind is only responsible for around 3% of all the carbon dioxide produced and Australia is only responsible for a tiny fraction of the world’s man-made carbon dioxide.
Nevertheless the government’s hand picked economic and science experts are sticking to the line that urgent action is required otherwise it could take thousands of years, not just hundreds, to bring about change.
But perhaps worst threat of all, if urgent action is not taken, is that the new Manly beach could be at Parramatta …
