Digital Decoder Boxes or another spending spree for scamers?

I don’t think anyone can deny that it is difficult for pensioners to stretch their budget much further.

Purchasing consumer electronics like the new digital TV decoder boxes is something that many simply will not have the spare cash for.

So perhaps it should be welcomed that in recent days the Federal Government has hinted that those on the full rate of Aged Care Pension, Disability Pension, War Service Pensions are likely to receive some support to purchase Digital Decoder boxes in the next year, rather than having to wait until 2013 under the previous system.

But then it gets interesting, there has also been mention of free installation and a free lesson on how to use them.

While I know many pensioners will appreciate the assistance, do we trust this government not to turn this spending spree into a debacle of rip offs and dodgy products installed by Fly By Night Scammers?

… Turn It Up.
