Government failing us on imports

Grant,
for years you and I, and many others including many on your program, have talked about the dangers of our government regulators letting food imports into the country with a Quarantine and Inspection Service that is asleep on the job.

I'm one of many people who have presented evidence to numerous parliamentary inquiries about the failures of Customs and Quarantine and one of the really frustrating thing is that our government and its departments nod off, they say they are concerned and listening but ignore the hard evidence before them.

With the number of imports from the number of places and the number of known toxins in some of them, and the high danger to our national food security this is not an issue the government can just let slide but that is exactly what has been happening for many years.

The risk isn't just for the community, or primary producers but importers as well, those who are doing the right thing are getting a bad rap too.
Now we have frozen produce and fresh foods being sold on our shelves that have been tested by various independent scientists and found wanting.

Our government doesn't seem to want to upset our trading partners so it is the Australian public who is supposed to swallow foods that are dangerous to our local food security and dangerous to their family's health and well being … Turn It Up.
