School Lunches and Lunch "Nazis"

I know there are probably a hundred important more important community and political, national and international issues we could talk about , but one issue that we shouldn't forget about is school lunches.

I remember taking my sandwiches wrapped up in paper wrap and in a paper bag, and sometimes we even got to wrap it in plastic cling wrap, but that stuff was expensive so we didn't do that very often.

Very few school children around my age brought their recess or lunch in a container, it was all very disposable.

But nowadays there is pressure from teachers and P&C's not to mention the Greenies and the plastic-ware sales parties that sell special lunch boxes and containers for this or that.

They expect our school children to have their little designer lunches in $30 designer lunch boxes. Not just any containers but designer containers that have freezer box segments to keep the drinks cool and the sliced meat sandwiches cold.

Yes I know son, you can't find the lids, I can't them either. Take a bag, and put the biscuits in a ziplock bag or wrap them in Aluminium foil for today.

What do you mean your teacher won't let you take THAT for your lunch and you'll get in trouble if it is packed like that … Turn It Up.

Is A Broken Election Promise A Lie?

During the last Federal election campaign Julia Gillard famously said that there would be no carbon tax in any government she led, so at least she could have had the decency to work out the details and take that to the next election and say here are the details, this is a democracy, it is time to have your say.
But no, apparently the democratic process that the Greens and The Prime Minister talk so much about isn't good enough for Australia's parliament that was elected on the promise of no carbon tax.
Yesterday she announced that there will be a Carbon tax, so the question we all want answered is she not in charge or were we lied to?

Lying is such a harsh word isn't it, so lets look at the evidence, the Prime Minister holds a press conference yesterday to announce that the Government is adopting the Green's policy on carbon tax and Bob Brown is there, standing beside the PM just like he's operating his puppet.
Well that is basically what happened yesterday the Australian public was told that everything the real Julia Gillard said and promised during the election campaign is no longer valid any more, they aren't lies or broken promises, its just that she isn't the real Julia any-more …

Bearded one hides being out in the cold

It has been an interesting few months in Federal politics, who is the real Julia Gillard and why has Rob Oakeshott grown a beard?
One of the big stumbling blocks Oakeshott hasn't been able to get over was the way the Liberal party was going to save money by not paying suppliers who haven't supplied anything, the government, treasury and Independents labelled it an anomaly, and it was because we all know the Labor government's willingness to spend money whether they got value for it or not.
Since that time we know there has been a widening gap between some of the independents, particularly Rob Oakeshott and the Liberal party's side of politics, and that gap continues to grow even wider.
At the same time as growing a beard, Oakeshott has decided not to continue formal meetings with the Opposition.
Now some around the country have claimed he's trying to cover up something, but as anyone who has had to be in Canberra during winter will understand …. an Independent out in the cold in a Canberra winter needs all the love and warmth they can get, even if they have to grow it on their own face.
As things get colder in Canberra you can understand him wanting to hide his face behind a thick bread, can't you? Turn It Up.

Government promises on road improvements are in the slow lane

To listen to our politicians over the last few years, or even the past decade or two one might have accidentally come to the conclusion that Sydney roads were for driving on.

Many of our country listeners won't have had the pleasure of sitting for half an hour in traffic moving at an average speed of 18 kph or so.

So let me explain Sydney traffic. Imagine crawling around in a vehicle running in first or second gear barely nudging above idle speed, and spending more time with your foot on the brake than you do with your foot on the accelerator.

Of course peak travel time commuters dream of the type of driving where you put your foot down and get to your destination quickly, efficiently and without too much fuss or bother.

Now if you can stop laughing and stay with me here.

Over the years we've had all sorts of examples of these types of comments that could easily confuse the motoring public... with everyone from Premiers to Government Ministers, Opposition Leaders and Spokespeople and even representatives from the NRMA talking about improving road conditions, and reducing travel times .

Lets face it in reality 16 years of this government has showed they have no interest in improving roads in Sydney beyond a slow moving car park, but if you want to get on a bike and take a ride... Turn It Up.
